the arts and our communitygivingbackslide

Kirk Players have been giving back to the community since our founding in 1966. We believe that we have a responsibility to the community from which we derive our artistic and material existence. We strive to offer services beyond our production schedule and to invest in the arts and arts programming.

We believe that our community deserves the opportunity to participate in the arts and we know that that participation improves the quality of life for all of our residents. We invest in our community through scholarships and grants to those involved with the performing arts, music and visual arts. We support those going onto college in the arts, our local high schools, school districts and Fine Arts Festival.

Did you know that :

1. Students with an education rich in the arts have higher GPA's and standardized test scores, lower drop-out rates, and even better attitudes about community service. Students with four years of arts or music in high school average 100 points better on their SAT scores than students with one-half year or less.

2. Arts organizations are responsible businesses, employers, and consumers. Nonprofit arts organizations generate $166 billion in economic activity annually, supporting 5.7 million jobs and generating nearly $30 billion in government revenue. Investment in the arts supports jobs, generates tax revenues, and advances our creativity-based economy.

3. Those that participate in the arts demonstrate enhanced capacities as individuals such as empathy for other people and cultures, increased powers of observation and understanding of the world. These effects enrich lives but also develop the kind of citizens that are committed to our community.
